The 2023 NBA Draft has officially come to a close, and now it's time to overanalyze on a bunch of players yet to get a fair shot.
Round 1, Pick 2: Brandon Miller
Grade: A
Analysis: Like many other Hornets fans, Scoot Henderson was my pick here. Like many other Hornets fans, I yelled at the TV. Like maybe not-so-many Hornets fans, I cried. But it's a new dawn, a new day, and Brandon Miller is my GUY. Perfectly fits into our current rotation, and his floor gives a degree of safety we rarely get with Hornets draft picks. On the other hand, his ceiling is admirable to put it lightly, and I see a world where he becomes Tatum-esque. Great pick by the Hornets. I guess.
Round 1, Pick 27: Nick Smith Jr.
Grade: A+
Analysis: HIGHWAY ROBBERY. This guy was the number 3 rated prospect going into college. Battled adversity on and off the court. This guy is about to shock the world. What makes me so sure? The emotion melting from this guys eyes as the Hornets called out his name.
Round 2, Pick 31: James Nnaji
Grade: C+
Analysis: Originally drafted by the Boston Celtics, the Hornets traded the 34th overall pick (Colby Jones), and the 39th pick (Mouhamed Geuye). Struggled to get minutes at Barcelona BC behind a stacked frontcourt, but when he got his chances this 7'0" behemoth is potentially the most physically gifted player in this draft. Very high ceiling for this guy, and has given me prime Kenneth Faried vibes.
Round 2, Pick 41: Amari Bailey
Grade: C
Analysis: Has had a solid freshman season at UCLA. Will likely begin his season with Greensboro.
