Hornets First Round Draft Report 1.0

Pick 2

Potential Picks:

Scoot Henderson

6’2”, 195 lbs, 19.3 yrs., 6’9” wingspan

Player Comp: 2016 John Wall, 2015 Derrick Rose

Henderson is a young, explosive guard with elite playmaking and dynamic scoring potential. Despite question marks around his 3-point shooting, he has shown promise in the mid-range area, and at the free-throw line. If he can extend this into a solid three-ball, Scoot has serious Hall of Fame potential.

Brandon Miller:

6’9”, 200 lbs, 20.5 yrs., 6’11” wingspan

Player Comp: 2018 Paul George, 2008 Danny Granger, 2020 Khris Middleton

Brandon Miller is the prototypical 2-way, shooting wing so valued in the modern NBA. Any front office would be thrilled to draft this guy. He’s not the most explosive, not the fastest, not the most exciting. But these are the guys a team needs to win. He can not only stretch the floor but is an absolute threat off the ball on the catch-and-shoot. And when the shot isn’t falling? He can turn the game on the other end, the way only the greats can. He also has the potential to become an elite secondary playmaker for the Hornets, something we haven’t had since the likes of Glen Rice and Baron Davis.

Pick 27:

Potential Picks:

Bilal Coulibaly

6’7”, 18.9 yrs., 7’3” wingspan

Player Comp: 2022 O.G. Anunoby, 2021 Mikal Bridges

Coulibaly is a fast-rising prospect, who is luring in teams with his defense, and intriguing offensive flashes. While his teammate Victor Wembenyama may have stolen the limelight, Coulibaly has slowly built himself a steady fanbase across the league’s front offices, and dubbed the team’s “X-Factor” by his coach at Metropolitans 92. His on-ball and off-ball defense is sublime, and his defensive upside is elite, given his towering frame. If he can add some muscle, you can expect to hear the name Bilal Coulibaly for years to come.

Trayce Jackson-Davis

6’8”, 240 lbs, 23.3 yrs., 7’1” wingspan

Player Comp: 2021 John Collins

Jackson-Davis is a high-flying, left-handed center who plays with a physical edge, intimidating opponents around the rim. He is a perfect lob threat for Lamelo Ball, and his lighting fast second leaping keeps him from falling from opponents’ pump fakes. Unfortunately, he is a streaky shooter at best, and he is left-hand dominant, with next to no sight of a right hand during his season at Indiana

G.G. Jackson

6’6”, 218 lbs, 18.5 yrs., 6’11” wingspan

Player Comp: 2018 Marcus Morris

As the youngest player in the class, and previously the number 1 ranked player coming out of high school, G.G. Jackson is a threat on the catch and shoot, in the mid-range, and in the interior. His ball handling is great for his size and position, but what really sets him apart is his work rate and hustle on both ends of the ball.
