Is This the Perfect Trade for the Hornets?

Hornets Receive:

Ben Simmons

2025 1st Round Pick (via Pheonix)

2027 1st Round Pick (via Pheonix) (Top 3 Protected)

Nets Receive:

Gordon Hayward

Cody Martin

2025 1st Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

2024 2nd Round Pick (via Boston)

2025 2nd Roond Pick

2026 2nd Round Pick

2027 2nd Round Pick

2027 2nd Round Pick (via Portland)

Hornets Reasoning:

-Free up significant cap space (potentially a max spot) for the 2024-25 Season, which is right around when we should aim to start contending.

-Add Defense, size, and add a dominant post scorer (at his best).

-Low risk, high reward.

-Clears Cody Martin’s long term deal from the books

-Makes use of all our second round picks, which we simply don’t have the roster spots for

-Add two high value 1st round picks. When the KD, D-Book and Bradley Beal is over (which can’t be more than a few year). These picks could easily be top 5, which means we would add more elite young talent to our roster right around the time we should be competing, giving us a larger window of competing.

-Removing Hayward from the rotation would give Brandon Miller more minutes, and giving him the best chance to progress into his superstar potential

Nets Reasoning:

-Clear your books of Ben Simmons huge contract.

-Add a significant number of draft picks. At this stage of a rebuild, it’s quantity over quality

-Add Cody Martin, who gives your fans something long-term to latch into during what is likelyabout to be a tough few years for the franchise
